We do not train coaches, but we belong to a Coach Training Program called Mentor Coach that we like so much that we like to recommend it to others.
What attracted us to coaching? We have been drawn to this work for numerous reasons--

Coaches come from all walks of life, but with backgrounds in human services and mental health, we wanted a training program that understood the education and skills we’ve been using and would build on those.
Mentor Coach was founded by a psychologist Ben Dean, Ph.D. who believed that coaching would be a natural extension of the skills and experience mental health professionals already possess.
We chose Mentor Coach because the training program was developed to help therapists and other helping professionals transition to coaching. The curriculum and trainers assume that such “students” have already built strong interviewing and listening skills, but need to know how coaching is different than therapy. Mentor Coach also includes training in marketing a service-based business and supports entrepreneurship.
We didn’t fully anticipate getting from Mentor Coach what has become one of our favorite features—a huge, warm, supportive community. Mentor Coach uses—and teaches—the advantages of technology to connect people from all over North America and beyond.
